The Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle is the spiritual center for the over 400,000 parishioners who worship in the Diocese of St. Petersburg. Diocesan-wide celebrations such as Ordinations to the Priesthood, Ordinations to the Deaconate, and the Chrism Mass are held at the Cathedral. All parishioners throughout the diocese are invited to come to the Cathedral to help celebrate these joyous occasions.
The Cathedral was built in 1963 and needs considerable repairs, replacements, and renovations. After conducting a thorough analysis, it was determined that renovating the Cathedral would ultimately be more cost-effective than making repairs or constructing an entirely new building. The renovated Cathedral will serve as a temple to and for the glory of God and serve as a diocesan model for the liturgical life of the Church. Renovations began in June 2012 and are scheduled to be completed in early fall 2013. Updates will be posted regularly on this page.
