Loose leaf collection will be provided by the City from November 17, 2014 through December 19, 2014. Residents can rake leaves to the curb at their convenience during the 5 week period. Most streets do not have an assigned collection day. The goal of the program is to collect leaf piles within 2 weeks of their appearance at the curb. Leaf collection is dependent on the weather and rain or freezing conditions can slow collection.
There are five streets that receive collection days on scheduled days only. These streets are state highways and have a heavy volume of traffic. State highway leaf collection routes:
Leaf collection on Saturday, November 22, 2014 & Monday, December 15, 2014:
-
Carroll Avenue, (7000 to 7800 block)
-
Ethan Allen Avenue
-
Philadelphia Avenue
Leaf collection on Monday, November 24, 2014 & Saturday, December 13, 2014:
-
Piney Branch Road,
-
Flower Avenue (7900 to 8600 block)
There will be no collection on the Thanksgiving holiday which is observed on Thursday and Friday, November 27-28. No other streets will receive collection on the dates when the posted streets are collected (November 22 and 24 and December 13 and 15).
During the collection in November, the crews will concentrate on picking up large piles of leaves. In December, when the crews are making the last collection on each street, they will thoroughly collect all remaining loose leaves from the gutter and grassy strip along the curb.
