Dear ACTS Friend,
A subscriber from Finland responded to a recent Daily Encounter on “Responsibility” saying: “This issue reminded me of a line that I read which endorses what you have said: ‘GOD GIVES US ORANGES—NOT ORANGE JUICE.’ That effort we need to do for ourselves.”
This man was also very appreciative of ACTS ministry. He also said, “In the middle of the day when work overwhelms me, your Daily Encounter e-Mail puts back the perspective in my life. I value your words and the part they play in my daily life.”
In God’s economy, God always does His part—but we are totally responsible for doing our part. God certainly did His part by giving His Son, Jesus, to pay the penalty for all of our sins so we could be freely forgiven and given the gift of eternal life, but it is OUR responsibility to communicate God’s message of salvation—to everyone, everywhere—be it across the street or around the world!
As Jesus said to His followers: “You are to go into all the world and preach the Good News [the Gospel] to everyone, everywhere” (Mark 16:15, TLB).
When I think of the untold millions of people who were born in countries where there was little, if any, chance of ever hearing the gospel, or in a country where it was forbidden—or even a death sentence—to preach the gospel, I will be eternally grateful that I was born in a country where there was total freedom to proclaim and to hear the gospel.
However, at least here in America, Christian freedoms are under increasing attack. For example:
1. Houston’s First Lesbian Mayor DEMANDS to see ALL Sermons from Christian Pastors
“Houston mayor, Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor, is [now was] conducting a litigious witch-hunt against religious leaders, issuing subpoenas that demand the sermons of pastors who may have spoken on the topic of homosexuality, gender identity, or Parker herself. Pastors who do not comply may be held in contempt of court” tinyurl.com/anti-christian.
Mayor Parker has since been “constrained” to withdraw her subpoenas to pastors demanding copies of their sermons and other communications in which they may have expressed their political views. However, of one thing we can be almost certain, these types of attacks are not going to cease.
2. Military: No Bible verses allowed in Paper
“The commander of an Ohio Air National Guard unit has censored his subordinates and forbidden them to print Bible verses in a newspaper, violating their First Amendment rights and essentially requiring [that] they only express atheism in public.”
If ever there was a need for Christians to join together to help spread the light of the gospel of Jesus Christ—who IS the LIGHT of the world (John 8:12)—it is TODAY!
The good news is that all the darkness in the world cannot put out the light of one small candle! One candle alone can't light a great area but hundreds can. One person working alone can't achieve a great lot, but hundreds working together can send the light of the gospel to thousands of people worldwide. This is the purpose of ACTS ministries, and never before has this been as possible as it is today with all the incredible means of communication now available.
Here in our U.S. office Joy and yours truly are our only staff, and we use a bedroom for the ACTS office, as our work is done on computers! Neither has it been as possible as it is today to reach so many with the gospel worldwide, by so few, so economically, and so quickly. As a result:
• On average every month people from 194 countries and
territories are visiting the
ACTS gospel web sites.
• ACTS Daily Encounter is ministering to 374,918 worldwide
subscribers every
weekday of the year.
• This means that ACTS is sending out 1.87 million Christian/
gospel e-Mail messages
every week equaling 97.24 million
every year!
• We are extremely thankful for God’s blessing because, since
beginning to use the
electronic media in 1998, we have
received 44,000+ decision/commitment responses for Christ.
However, we are very much aware of the fact that ACTS ministry is not accomplished by the ACTS staff … it is the combined prayer and financial support of every ACTS supporter which is an investment in people’s lives for all eternity. Billy Graham said: "I am convinced the greatest act of love we can ever perform for people is to tell them about God's love for them in Christ."
Know that your support is a vital part of ACTS Gospel ministry as it is helping to reach people worldwide with the saving gospel of Jesus Christ. It is greatly appreciated. As you stand with us again this month may God richly bless and reward you in His own abundant way.
