TIGUE (Amy Garapic, Matt Evans, Carson Moody) Village in Volume – Percussion Triple Music

Inspired by the collaborations of John Cage and Lou Harrison, the three members of percussion ensemble TIGUE lead participants through the streets of Greenwich Village in a participatory performance of a piece for tuned metal pipes played with mallets graciously donated by Vic Firth and voices.

Each member of TIGUE will independently compose their own music, following certain musical parameters, resulting in a piece in three parts. Combining active glitters of metal pipe choirs, as well as intimate vocal moments, the music will be explained in real time to each participant via a downloadable mp3 containing instructions for how and when to create these sounds.

In order to fully participate, each person should download an instruction track, and then upload this track onto an mp3 player (such as an iPod or your phone) and bring it along with a pair of earbuds to use during the performances.  Mallets to play the pipes will be graciously donated by Vic Firth.  Gloves are also strongly encouraged!

Download instruction tracks according to your birthday month or stream them from your phone or the SoundCloud app.

TIGUE is the latest project of percussionists Matt Evans, Amy Garapic, and Carson Moody. Founded in early 2012, TIGUE presents contemporary music from friends, contemporaries, and themselves through a lens of percussive elements. Currently in their second season, TIGUE has presented shows in Chicago as part of the International Beethoven Festival, Madison WI as part of the Color Field Festival, Columbus OH, and in New York including shows at The Rite of Summer Festival, the Gershwin Hotel (part of the Contagious Sounds Series), and P.S. 142 (guest soloists with Contemporaneous). The three members have performed together extensively over the past 6 years during their studies together at Ohio State University and the Eastman School of Music, highlighted by performances at PASIC and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. From instruments to garbage, from the composed to the improvised, TIGUE is focused on creating new sounds in every way they can.
