There is plenty of discussion of the effectiveness of Feng Shui. While some people are true believers, others think it is nothing but superstition and hokum. This article from SBS Australia is a very good look at the overall subject.

IMHO, Feng Shui is very powerful, for a bunch of reasons. More than anything, if you take the time to pay attention to the things around you, and to make your living and work spaces harmonious and happy, you will work better and you will live better. The power of Feng Shui I think is often in that it focuses your attention on the things that we often forget, and we end up with much happier lives.

Here is an interesting article from Suffolk Times about Feng Shui and your home. It’s a nice little primer on the subject, and raises some good questions and points, especially for people who are just starting out on Feng Shui. I particularly like the way that she compares stale air to stale energy. Clearly if the air cannot flow, the energy likely does not flow either. This is a very interesting story for supports of Feng Shui. It seem that Chinese senior official Wang Yinfeng from Chongqing municipality objected strongly to a building project in his area last year because it would hurt the feng shui of other buildings in the are and bring bad chi into the region. He was very agressive in his campaign, and he ordered a stop to the development. Some people felt that this would be a sort of career suicide. Well, the good chi must have been rolling his way, because this official has been promoted to deputy secretary-general of Chongqing municipal government. It seems that supporting feng shui can really bring good fortune!

Feng Shui has many influences on our every day lives. Using Feng Shui to bring good chi into our lives while pushing away negative or bad chi is very key. As the Christmas season is upon us, there are often questions as to what is appropriate for Christmas decorations, keeping to good Feng Shui principals. About has a pretty good article here that includes some very good information, such as keeping light colors warm and bright (to keep things positive, and maybe to fend off the dark nights of winter), but at the same time to look for balance, not to over heat your house with took much fire element stuff. Sort of a weird story, where it is reported that construction in Chongqing was stopped by an official concern for the effects of the new construction on the feng shui of existing Government buildings:

A RECORDING clip on the Internet allegedly showing a government official talking about fengshui has sparked controversy as it seemed to suggest the construction of a building was halted because the official believed it would disturb the fengshui of a nearby government compound.

Several versions of the recording have been uploaded onto the Internet. In the longest recording, lasting 31 minutes, a man alleged to be Wang Yinfeng, Party chief of Jiangjin district in south-west China’s Chongqing Municipality, said the under-construction building would block the government building and asked men said to be representatives from the real estate companies: ‘Do you know what fengshui is?’
