[VIDEO WORLD PREMIERE] Delhi 2 Dublin: Turn Up The Stereo

Delhi 2 Dublin are redefining the sound of urban music. Their music reflects the blurring of cultural lines and melding of communities with an exciting energy and unexpected fusion of worldwide influences. A large portion of their inspiration comes from Bhangra, the sound of Punjabi folk music, and high energy fiddle laden Celtic music, but Delhi 2 Dublin incorporates wider elements for Caribbean beats, dub bass, to electronic synths. With ears so finely tuned to the musical currents bubbling up all over the world, it’s no surprise Delhi 2 Dublin are quickly becoming one of the most buzzed and unorthodox group of musicians the world over.

Delhi 2 Dublin is made up of vocalist Sanjay Seran, tabla player and electronics wizard Tarun Nayar, violinist Sara Fitzpatrick, sitar player Andrew Kim and dhol player Ravi Binning. The band have been making their genre defying music for four years, but Sara is the most recent addition. Sara has become their secret weapon in creating their new album ‘Turn Up The Stereo’ “She adds another dimension to the music with her violin, but almost more importantly with her voice. Her vocal harmonies add an ethereal twist to Sanjay’s voice; a sweetness which is new to our sound”.

The added depth to their sounds pays off, ‘Turn Up The Stereo’ is a daring, yet fun, take on urban world electronic music that truly showcases the multi-cultural composition of Delhi 2 Dublin and the world itself. More importantly it was a chance for the group to push the limits of what they can create. The band says of ‘Turn Up The Stereo’, “It’s a metaphor for us turning it up many ways for this album. We spent ten times the amount of time and effort writing this album than we have in the past. We really tried to make everything better, from music and lyrics to production and artwork.”

They have worked very hard on their new effort, but Nayar is quick to remind us of the groups overall outlook, “We hope people will like this album. We wanted to make something fun; that we love and will help us do what we love, which is travelling around the world, playing music and connecting with people.” In the end all music is about is connecting and having fun, no?

In that spirit we are proud to premiere the brand new video for Delhi 2 Dublin’s title track ‘Turn Up The Stereo’. Fun and quirky, the video confirms the band is just out to enjoy the music they create and the people who embrace it. The new album is set for release on February 19th.
