Dirtyboy Remembered
Meowza loved rolling in the dirt, exposing his pure white belly. Every chance he got, he took a roll then would come in and lay on my cream colored sofa. I had to wash the cushion covers frequently but I didn’t mind. I loved that cat.
He loved the flowers too, often seeking the shade of a bush, the better to hunt birds.
He liked grass too but after my friends landscaped my front yard, it was only to be found in back and next door. They had lush green lawns which he was fond of visiting. In fact, he was there just Sunday morning. My neighbor said he didn’t run away like he usually does.
Speaking of running away, he was always somewhat freaked by the antics of a certain small grandchild and would keep his distance. In retrospect, I wonder if he wasn’t feeling well when he lay on the sofa with said grandchild. She was quietly watching TV and not bothering the kitty. He did enjoy looking out the window.
He even would lay on one pillow while his mom, Ritzi, lay on the one furthest from him, both within petting distance often taking turns on my belly.
Sunday was the hottest day in over sixty years, reaching 105. After coming inside, he lay on the cool tile floor. This was the last picture I have of him alive. I left for church shortly after.
He is running free with his friend Cece and his kitty family over the Rainbow Bridge. Beautiful flowers to smell, lovely birds to chase, the greenest grass to nibble on and just possibly some dirt for him to roll in. He will miss his Sally who wrote a lovely tribute as did Nikita, Elvira and daddy Kiril. Thank you all.
Still leaky eyed. Not a poet so not even going to try.

That is a wonderful tribute to Meowza! We loved his pictures of contentment rolling around in the dirt. We included a short tribute to him in our weekend post:

So sorry for the loss of your beloved Meowza.
We’re so sorry to hear about Meowza. Even given his penchant for dirt, he was a lovely lovely cat. And one of the best names I’ve ever heard! I hope your memories bring you comfort.
