Search Engine Marketing Group was founded at the end of 2005 by serial entrepreneur Gerald Weber. What started as a Houston website consulting and design firm has quickly grown into a leading Houston search engine marketing company.
This rapid growth was by no means an accident. It can be attributed to the company’s way of doing business, which is summarized by the following:

Meet the Founder – Gerald Weber
After 7 years as a stock equities portfolio manager, Gerald decided it was time to leave the trenches of Wall Street. He left Southern California and moved back to his hometown of Houston, Texas. It was at this point in 2001 that he entered the SEO/SEM field.
“I started out working for a local search marketing company doing sales. I discovered that I had a knack for selling SEO/SEM services to business owners. But, every time I started to hit my sales goals, the company I was working for would change their commission structure. In other words, they were trying to keep their own wallets nice and fat by making sure I didn’t get too much money. Eventually, I had enough of this treatment and decided it was time to hang my own shingle.”
“In December 2005, after resigning my sales position, I went down to the courthouse and registered my DBA. With my last $100, I opened a business account and Search Engine Marketing Group was officially born.”
Armed with only a DBA, $100 business account, telephone, yellow pages and Internet connection, Gerald put his all into the growth of Search Engine Marketing Group. The company’s growth over the last six years shows that his hard work has truly paid off.
Gerald not only has a passion for making websites rank and convert, but he’s also a lover of all things related to social media and blogging.
