Fishing in Key West

Thinking of Fishing Key West or Fishing Key Largo or Fishing Marathon?

spacer There is a reason that Islamorada, Florida Keys, is known as the “Sportfishing Capital of the World.” It’s because from there you truly do have access to a vast array of fishing grounds that is unique and found only there!

The Everglades National Park, world renown for redfish, snook, tarpon, and seatrout is easily reachable from Bud N’ Mary’s, and you can often run along the flats and banks and get there even when the wind is blowing 30 m.p.h! Try that from anywhere else and you will get absolutely soaked!

spacer The Gulf of Mexico which has great mackerel, cobia, tripletail, goliath grouper, permit, and other species is also found just a little west of the Everglades National Park Border, and is often fishable in the same flats boats that work the backcountry.

spacer The Atlantic Ocean and abundant coral reefs off Islamorada, Florida, are second to none and have some of the best sailfish and kingfish action as well as yellowtail, snapper, and grouper. Offshore there is often spectacular dolphin and tuna fishing as well as wahoo and swordfish! The Stanczyk family out of Bud N’ Mary’s pionereed the art of daytime swordfishing in Florida which is being done everywhere now! So if you want to make sure you have options to do different things, Fishing Islamorada is a good bet as opposed to Fishing Key West.

spacer Remember Bud N’ Mary’s Marina has been in business since 1944, and many of the guides there have families that grew up there. Try finding that if your Fishing Key Largo or Fishing Marathon!!! The Key West Tarpon bite is just as good as it is up in Islamorada, Florida Keys!
