AS CROWDS gathered at well chosen vantage points across London, and many more watched on a live internet stream, the Shard had its official opening last night.
The new building, the tallest in western Europe, will house offices, residential apartments, a hotel. A new viewing platform will open next year with a cost of £25 per ticket.
