Bjork and The Stone Roses are set to perform at Oya next summer.
Held in one of the oldest regions in Oslo, Oya has earned a reputation for grabbing some very special performances. Refusing to slow down, organisers have opened the bill for 2012 with two iconic artists: Bjork and The Stone Roses.
It's a hell of a way to open your account, we'll say that. In an announcement this morning (December 7th) Oya confirmed that the two acts would headline the Norwegian festival, with both artists raising temperatures for different reasons.
Bjork is taking 'Biophilia' on the road next summer, with the acclaimed live show set to visit a series of European festival. A jaw dropping display of songwriting and the visual arts, 'Biophilia' made its debut in Manchester this summer.
The Stone Roses, meanwhile, caused an enormous stir by confirming their comeback. Ending 15 years of speculation, the legendary Manchester act held a simple press conference to turn fans' dreams into reality.
The band will play a series of festivals next summer, having already confirmed a headline slot at T In The Park.
Both acts are set to headline Oya next summer, with the Norwegian festival continuing to punch above its weight.
Returning next year, the Oslo based event will also grab appearances from the amusingly titled collective The Good, The Bad And The Zugly, The Devils Blood, Jonas Alaska and Azealia Banks.
Alongside the music Oya hosts smaller stages as well as locally sourced food - in most cases completely organic.
Early bird tickets are set to go on sale shortly.
Oya runs between August 7th - 11th.
