The Honors College

The oldest and most prestigious scholarship at ASU through the Honors College is the Chancellor's Scholarship. It is a full scholarship awarded each year to the most academically competitive applicants entering ASU as freshmen. 

The Chancellor's Scholars average around a 1460 for their SAT Math + Verbal scores (ACT 33), and are typically in the top 3% of their high school class.

The Chancellor's Scholarship provides the following support and opportunities:

• Full institutional costs for eight semesters, which includes: tuition, fees, housing, and a meal plan.
• A fall-break trip to Dublin, Ireland, for all freshmen Chancellor's Scholars (lead by the Honors College Director teaching the CS special course). Click here to view a short video featuring the Fall 2012 Chancellor's Scholars' trip to Dublin, Ireland.
• A dedicated 1 s.h. course (Voyages) for the freshmen Chancellor's Scholars with the Honors College Director.
• Membership in the Chancellor's Scholars community with events such as the CS Fall Banquet, CS suppers, and other activities that bring the 40+ scholars on campus together for vertical mentoring from freshmen to senior.
• Access to the network of over 500 alumni of the Chancellor's Scholars programs from the last 30 years for mentoring, internship opportunities, and professional opportunities.
• Full study abroad support to any of 200 ASU partner institutions around the world for any number of the seven, awarded semesters after the  first semester.
• Opportunities for service-learning courses and programs locally and throughout the world with the Appalachian and the Community Together office (with travel cost help).
• Available support for research and scholarship through the Office of Student Research for research and scholarship in the student's target area of study, including travel funds to attend conferences where the student is presenting.
• Opportunity for membership in AIM High as freshmen (other eligible members are sophomores) with focused mentoring to enhance graduate/professional school and prestigious scholarship applications.
• Support from the Prestigious Scholarships Program for travel to conferences (by application and as AIM High members) in the student's area of research/scholarship even if not presenting yet.
• Tuition assistance for summer travel courses with ASU professors and any other summer international experience.
• Priority access to Honors College international faculty-led courses and to the Honors College international clinical experiences.
• Priority registration for course selection.
• Dedicated, personalized academic mentoring and advising from the Honors faculty and staff; this advising is by terminal degree professionals in fields related to the students' areas of study.
• Housing available in Honors-only floors located in Cone Hall (for Freshmen) and Summit Hall (for upper class students).  Click here to learn more about these residence halls.  The housing support may be used off campus or elsewhere on campus after the first year.
• Participation in the Honors College and Appalachian Honors Association! activities, including lectures, service opportunities, and social events.
• Chancellor's Scholars may be in any major and in any college.
