OPHS Student Wins Championship Title
spacer spacer On June 20-22, Ouachita Parish High School student Timothy Holdiness competed in the Certiport 2014 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. I studied with my teacher, Mrs. Carraway, for weeks before the event. Every school day I would spend at least an hour studying PowerPoint 2010, said Timothy.

All of the studying paid off when Timothy was invited to compete in the Certiport 2014 U.S. National Championships. He competed against 9 students. The students took an exam based on their exam track and a qualifying interview. Out of the 44 total students competing, only 6 would advance to the World Championships in Anaheim, CA.

My heart felt like it was going to beat out of my chest, Holdiness says. First they announced third place, and it wasnt me. Then second place, and it still wasnt me. And then they said the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2010 specialist U.S. Champion who will go and represent the United States at the World Championships at Disneyland in Anaheim, California is . . . Timothy Holdiness. I couldnt believe it! I was shaking as I walked up to the stage to receive the 1st place trophy and the Microsoft Surface tablet that all of the 1st place winners received, explains Timothy.

Timothy and the 5 other champions will go on to represent the United States in the World Championships on July 27-30, 2014. Congratulations Timothy, and good luck in Anaheim!!
