Club Zero at SUnMaRC 2012

Club Zero traveled to Tucson to attend and present at the Southwest Undergraduate Mathematics Research Conference (SUnMaRC) on March 30 through April 1.

Eric Chaidez gave a talk on "Snell's Law Application to Light Waves in Optical Fiber Technology"; Abigail Damaris Muñiz and Jesus Loya presented "Matrix Product Application to Fibonacci Sequence"; and Jonathan Fernandez presented "An introductory Look at the Abelian Sandpile Model".

This was the second SUnMaRC conference presentation for Eric Chaidez. " I can safely say I felt much more confident than in my first presentation; I communicated with the audience over my research and observed how they were able to provide feedback based on their understanding of the presentation." Eric is a member of Club Zero, majoring in Engineering. His participation at SUnMaRC also helps him in his career: "As an engineering student, I believe this process is one that is essential to become accustomed to, for presenting before an audience will be an important factor that will be required for when I start my capstone senior project before graduating."

There were many presentations, but also plenty of fun and games. "The SUnMaRC conference this year was enjoyable as an opportunity to experience a college trip with my peers. "
