2014 Yankees Outlook

The New York Yankees were riddled with injuries in 2013, as Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter missed the majority of the season. New York missed the playoffs for just the second time since 1995, but that didn't stop 3,279,589 fans from headed to Yankee Stadium last season. Yankees icon and future Hall of Famer Derek Jeter announced that the 2014 season will be his last, which will certainly make this season's Yankees tickets even more in demand. After signing Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann and Mashinro Tanaka, the Yankees are poised to compete in Jeter's final season. Don't wait -- buy your tickets to see the Yankees in 2014 today!

The Yankees and Yankees fans are not used to what happened in 2013, as the team missed the playoffs entirely. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made significant changes in the offseason, revamping the Bronx Bombers' lineup. Though the Yankees lost Robinson Cano, Cashman used the money saved to sign Jacoby Ellsbury, Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran. New York also bolstered its rotation, signing Japanese pitcher Mashinro Tanaka to a seven-year, $155 million contract. Though Tanaka comes with plenty of risk, as does any pitcher, he profiled as the top free agent starting pitcher this winter, and projects to be an asset to the Yankees in 2014.According to the ZiPS projection system, Tanaka is projected to pitch 191 innings with a 3.68 ERA, 187 strikeouts and issue just 35 walks.

Beltran, Ellsbury and McCann join a lineup anchored by Derek Jeter, Mark Teixeira, Alfonso Soriano and Brett Gardner. Though the Yanks lost Cano, New York boasts one of the top lineups in the league -- and should score plenty of runs.

The Yankees' pitching staff will be anchored once again by C.C. Sabathia. Hiroki Kuroda, Mashinro Tanaka and Ivan Nova will follow Sabathia in New York's 2014 rotation, which should be substantially better than it was in 2013. Michael Pineda, acquired from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for Jesus Montero, is expected to finally make his Yankees debut, after missing two seasons due to shoulder injuries. With a revamped lineup and rotation, the Yankees have a good chance to capture the AL East crown and return to the playoffs.

2014 Yankees Schedule

With 27 World Series titles, it's no surprise that the Yankees have a heated rivalry with each team in the AL East. Yankees fans always travel well to Baltimore to watch the Bombers take on the Orioles, who are led by former Yankee manager Buck Showalter. Yankees fans can head north of the border to catch the Yankees take on the Toronto Blue Jays, who are expected to compete for a playoff spot in 2014. The young and excitingTampa Bay Rays led by Evan Longoria, David Price and Wil Myers will compete for a playoff spot -- and fans in Florida will certainly want to catch the Yankees take on the Rays at Tropicana Field. Perhaps the most intense rivalry in baseball is between the Yankees and Red Sox -- after the Yankees signed Jacoby Ellsbury, you can bet that the rivalry will intensify in 2014.

2014 Yankees Interleague Schedule

New York's interleague schedule will bring the Bronx Bombers to three different National League parks this summer. As always, the Yankees will renew their rivalry against the Mets, hosting the Mets May 12 and May 13, before headed to Citi Field May 14 and May 15. The Bronx Bombers will host the Chicago Cubs April 15 and April 16, before headed to Wrigley Field May 20 and May 21. New York will host the suddenly-successful Pittsburgh Pirates May 16, May 17 and May 18. The Yankees head to St. Louis to take on the defending National League champion Cardinals May 26, May 27, and May 28. New York's interleague tour through the NL Central will end in July, when the Yankees host the Cincinnati Reds July 18, July 19 and July 20.
