Still kicking

Thanks to the folks who got in touch and made the case I should keep this going.  It’s back up now, and I’ll do some things on my end to keep it rolling on.  At least until things like the ASCAP situation (noted below) ruin it for everyone.

Comments are always welcomed — nice to get some feedback and hear that folks are enjoying some of the classics from back when….

    Glad it’s back.

    Yeah, wtf are we gonna do about ASCAP? I hate those record company people.

    I don’t know, maybe we should get this hosted in some other country, like Sweden? Or some African country.

    I’ve always been thinking about moving to Somalia and just running a straight up pirate internet service there. Seems like there’s no law in that country but they still have internet access.

    No, no info from ASCAP yet. Will certainly remove any content they do quote. Believe that most of the crap I’m playing, the bands would be happy that anyone still cares.

    hey I was wondering what happened to your station. I thought I messed up my stream settings or something. It’s great to hear you’ve fired it up again.
    I’ve only been listening for a few months but I haven’t changed the station since I found this one!

    Interested in talking this out Bobby. You think it’s best that a hobby (there’s no revenue here, for anyone) like promoting classic punk tunes is ripping you off? Think that people would know much about you if you weren’t actively promoted via people who actually care about the underground.

    Don’t worry — nothing you’re ever associated with will be streamed by me. I’d rather shut down than promote people who think punk was a revenue opportunity. Jackass.

    Great stream - only recently found it and have been hooked on hearing some ‘classics’. As far as the ridiculous ‘piracy’ claims/threats in this thread:

    If SJ Fields (one to many titles) and others could please remove their heads from their asses for a moment, they’d realize that streaming web radio such as this is actually great, priceless, free promotion. How many kids will listen to this and seek out and PURCHASE CDs/records/MP3s/etc. from the artists they’re hearing on this stream. It’s free exposure, for fucks sake! Be glad someone’s interested.

    Don’t sweat the chump making unnecessary threats on here. Anyone hoping to be taken seriously would at least throw some capitalization into their whining horse-shit statements. Good for you for keeping it up.

    I’ve been listening to this station for years now; work, home, couple different countries. Always entertains. Let them keep their garbage music in obscurity where it apparently belongs. I don’t know that I’ve ever met a single punk anywhere who wouldn’t love to have their tunes on here.

    This is not piracy and there’s no reason any artist should ever get up their own ass so hard over nothing. It’s not like you ripped off someone’s music and put it in a Nike commercial or anything…………so fuck ‘em.

    Great music mate, one of the best streams I’ve listened to.
    If these threat-mongering tools would just let us know which bands are off the artistic roll-call I’d gladly let them get on with their sordid little marketing drives. I don’t see anyone from Fat Wreckchords, Bluurg, Mortarhate or Dischord whining about a 10 year old record being played on a not for profit stream. Nothing sadder than a nobody wanking for coins. Keep up the good work. Also if you want any tech help specifically website/database I can spare a few hours for something this worthwhile.
