By Road
The CMS site is close to the M11 motorway (exit at Junction 13). Please note that parking on site is very limited, although some parking is also available on nearby streets.

By Rail
London to Cambridge by Train 45 minutes (from 12 GBP).
Trains from London to Cambridge run from London Liverpool Street and London King's Cross Station. It is quickest to take the train from King's Cross to Cambridge (45 minutes on an express). Trains from Liverpool Street take up to 90 minutes. There is a regular train service between London and Cambridge that runs from 5am through to midnight during the week the last train leaves London King's Cross for Cambridge is at 00:04 and arrives in Cambridge at 01:22am. The journey time from London to Cambridge is between 45 minutes and 90 minutes for stopping services so it is worth while taking the fast train. The train arrives at Cambridge station which is a 20 minute walk to Cambridge city centre so you may wish to take a taxi. You can travel from London to Cambridge from 6 GBP if you book in advance rather than just turning up at the station on your day of travel.

Local bus services
For bus services from Cambridge railway station into the city centre look for the Citi 1, Citi 3 or Citi 7 services. The Laboratory is about three miles from the railway station. If you opt to take a taxi from the station forecourt ask for Clarkson Road. The fare should be in the region of 8.00 GBP.
Uni 4 bus link
The Uni 4 bus links the University sites on the west of Cambridge to the city centre and Addenbrooke's. For the stop most convenient for CMS ask the driver for Storey's Way. The Citi 4 also passes the Site.

Heathrow Airport (LHR) To Cambridge.
Getting to Cambridge from Heathrow airport by bus takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes and it costs about 37 GBP for a return ticket. National Express run thirty direct buses a day from Heathrow Airport Central bus station to Parker's Piece, Parkside, which is next to Drummer street bus station in Cambridge. The buses also stop at Trumpington Park & Ride on the way in and out of Cambridge to Heathrow. You can also go from Cambridge's Madingley Park & Ride to Heathrow, but buses on this route require a change in Milton Keynes and it takes longer as it is not direct. It is advisable to book in advance to ensure you get a ticket. Should you be delayed your ticket will be valid for any bus within 24 hours of your original booking time. An alternative to the bus from Heathrow Airport to Cambridge is to take the train, this takes about 2 hours. This can be faster due to road traffic but is normally more expensive. The main routes for the trip between Heathrow Airport and Cambridge are either to take the Heathrow Express Train to Paddington then tube to Kings Cross or you could get the tube from Heathrow to Kings Cross then train to Cambridge. One way train tickets on the Heathrow Express from Heathrow to Paddington cost 14.50 GBP. London underground can also be used which is cheaper but slower. The train from Kings Cross to Cambridge costs approx 20 GBP or less depending on time of day.

Stansted Airport To Cambridge.
Stansted Airport is well connected to Cambridge by bus, National Express run twenty one direct buses a day from Stansted Airport bus station to Parkside, which is next to Drummer street bus station in Cambridge. It takes approximately 50 minutes and costs about 15 GBP for a return ticket (10 GBP for a single). Buses from Stansted (often mis-spelt Stanstead) Airport to Cambridge can be very crowded and there is no guarantee of a place unless you book in advance. Tickets are normally valid for any bus on the same route for 24 hours from your original booked time should you flight be delayed. Another good transport option is to take a train from Stansted Airport to Cambridge station. This takes approximately 40 minutes and costs between 15 and 30 GBP for a return ticket, the price is dependent on the time you travel. Cambridge station is located a 15 minute walk from the city centre and not quite as close as the Drummer Street bus station.

Gatwick Airport To Cambridge.
If you want to get from Gatiwck airport to Cambridge fast, the train is your best option. If you don't mind settling into your seat and relaxing with a good book, you might prefer a direct coach to Cambridge. Either way, they cost roughly the same. The National Express bus stop is on the upper forecourt of Gatwick's South Terminal. If you arrive at the Gatwick's North terminal you can transfer between terminals by a free monorail service (there is no shuttle bus). The National Express desk is in the South Terminal Arrivals hall. There are 20 direct coaches per day from Gatwick airport to Cambridge and a handful go via Heathrow Airport where you have to transfer. The first coach is at 01:50 and the last one leaves at 23:35. A single fare from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge costs 30 GBP and a return is 41.30 GBP. The journey takes between 3h 1/2 -- 4h 1/2. By train, the journey from Gatwick Airport to Cambridge is just over 2 hours, and there are three trains per hour. You need to change at Victoria Station in London and take the northbound Victoria (light blue) underground line to King's Cross mainline station, from where you can catch one of the three trains per hour that go to Cambridge. Allow extra time for negotiating the Underground system. Subway trains run every 2-3 minutes but there are often delays. Try to time your journey so you avoid travelling across London in the rush hour - subway trains can be impossible to board, especially if you are travelling with luggage. A single fare is about 28 GBP and an off peak return is 40 GBP. It is possible to catch the Gatwick Express for the first leg of the journey, but it is 6 GBP more expensive and takes about the same length of time. Your normal train ticket is not valid for the Gatwick Express.

Luton Airport is about 35 miles from Cambridge. No intercontinental flights operate from Luton. There is no efficient train connection but there is a regular coach (1.5 hours travel time).
