The University of Washington has been a leader in online education for more than
a decade, delivering courses and programs over the Internet since 2001. Part of
that legacy of leadership includes offering a selection of online courses for free
to anyone who wants to expand their world through higher education.
The UW currently provides free online courses through a variety of services. These include classes accessible via the UW Professional & Continuing Education website and courses available through Coursera and edX, two of the largest providers of massive online open courses, or MOOCs.
