That’s where I’ll be if you want to talk to me! About anything. In particular.

A Tricky Chord To Play

No, it’ll take a lot less than three years to get to the next part.

As I wrote on my blog, I came home from Canada with a lot to think about. The return of F Chords has been a long time in the making — maybe too long, given the dark crevasse it has formed in my brain — and it was predicated on three things:

1. Starslip coming to an end by April or May 2011. This did not come to pass; my goal was to run both F Chords and Starslip concurrently so the former could gently take over for the latter. That’s okay, I was prepared to run them both at the same time for longer.
2. The delay of Blamimations season 2. This is no longer the case as of next week. Okay, three webcomics and one webseries, I think I can manage that, provided that –
3. The failed Kickstarter for The Scott and Kris Show. It did not fail: it was funded in four short days, beyond our wildest fantasies. The first episode is coming to Penny Arcade TV very soon. (In fact, we shot most of the first episode this week.) (In fact in fact, we’re working on the first six episodes in the next three weeks.)

With all this going on, F Chords has to switch to a chapter-by-chapter format. There’s no way around it. I’ll post the strip in great clots when it pours from me, as it has been. Even though I’m happy I have the outlet again, I’m embarrassed to have misjudged the sudden amount on my plate. As a show of good faith, though, I wanted to share something with you.

Starting Monday for a little over a week, I’m going to be running the first draft of the F Chords reboot. It’s a different tone, and sets up the relationships very differently from what ran here the last couple months. See if you can spot what elements I kept and which ones I changed completely.

As always, subscribe to RSS up there for updates!

The Office

Drew this thinking about how I color the backgrounds. I’ve been looking at old iterations of F Chords and the strip that was going to be here in its place once, and two things I decided were: (1) not to limit myself on how I draw it, and (2) not to color the strip unless I had a strong color philosophy (i.e. don’t just do flat fills).

It’s so hard for me to break out of what I’ve been doing; that’s why Starslip looked the same for so long. But if I like this treatment, maybe the strip will look like this for a week. I don’t know why I’m so cranky about stuff like that!

Also, tomorrow we will introduce the fourth and last cast member (for now)! Sit tight and thanks for being here!

Today I introduce the latest cast member, and more are coming as we learn about Ash and Wade’s miserable new station in life. Semi-success, but at what semi-cost??

Be sure to check out his tiny bio on the cast page.

So this link is the official RSS feed for the strip. If you guys are having trouble with it, let me know here. There’s some default RSS that early adopters might have snatched up and it may be causing errors.

We can fix it together!
