6/21: Everything Data Proc, from Intro to Deep Dive – Brad Serbu

Jun 5
Group Stuff, Meetings

This month, our speaker may be familiar to many of you, especially those who asked him to present again after his Kendo mini-presentation last month: Brad Serbu.

Brad’s presentation will consist of an introduction/ high-level overview of data processing patterns and practices, and then a deep dive into the latest tools and libraries available on the .NET Platform.  For the deep dive, he will build from scratch, a declarative data processing framework with capabilities to handle real-time, Extact-Transform-Load (ETL), event-based models.  Attendees will come away with a thorough understanding of data processing and will be able to leverage the techniques and code shown in the presentation.  No experience in data processing is required, so beginners/novices are welcome.  For those with experience in data processing (perhaps with SQL Integration Services (SSIS)) are also welcome, and should find many concepts to be similar.  There will be something for everyone and all should come away with more confidence to improve their data processing capabilities – something all developers should have.

If you don’t know Brad, or where we meet, read on…

Chad England with Aspect-Oriented Programming, 2/16

Feb 1
Group Stuff, Meetings

If any of the following grab you, head down to Polaris Center, Naples on Thursday, 2/16, at 6:30pm:

  • You can clean up your code by encapsulating mundane stuff like auth and exception handling into classes that you then apply with .Net attributes.
  • You can follow that cool Ruby principle of not repeating yourself, in .Net.
  • Your whole team can use the same attributes to standardize practices and frameworks.
  • Your team doesn’t have to completely understand more complex procedures in order to use them as aspects.

Chad England has clearer explanations, and code samples he’ll be showing at his presentation on Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) at our February Group meeting. This presentation will also kick off our introduction of newest Friends of the Community, Sharpcrafters, makers of the PostSharp AOP tool.
