Accessing Bright

Bright is a web-based CMS (Content Management System), which is subdivided up into individual sub-sites.    Each sub-site is owned by an author, who can publish web-based content within their sub-site, such as:

  • Posts (HTML)
  • Videos
  • SCORM-Content

Each author is also able to control who has access to their sub-site.  If you are reading this page, the chances are that you have been given access to one or more sub-sites of the Bright website, and so now you’ll need to be able to log in and view the content.

Invitation Email

Once you are given a log-in to Bright, you will receive an email, looking something like this:

Dear Fred,

Your new account is set up.

You can log in with the following information:

Username: fred.bloggs@example.com
Password: O9nnCLnIVwrg

subsite1.domain.com/wp-login.php
secondsite.domain.com/wp-login.php

Thanks!

Notice above, some (or sometimes just one) of the lines of the email are links to webpages.     Each of these is a link to a different sub-site within Bright.   The domain part (the word after ) gives you the name of the sub-site.

Logging In

Click on one of the links in the email, and your browser should open, with a box allowing you to log in:

  • Enter your email address in the first box.
  • Enter the password supplied in the email, shown above into the second box.
  • Click “remember me” if you want the computer you are at to remember your log-in for next time.
  • Hit “log in”

You should now be taken to the front page of your sub-site, which is likely to contain a set of posts (representing different items of content) which you can then browse and read.

How to Deal With Login Problems

If for some reason you are unable to log in with the credentials provided in the email then one of two things has happened:

  1. Your password has been changed, or is wrong somehow.
  2. You don’t have access to the sub-site you are accessing.

This guide will take you through the process of identifying which of these problems it is, and how to fix it.

1.  Wrong Password?

The first possibility that you might be having log-in problems is that you are supposed to be allowed to access the sub-site, but somehow your password got changed.  This is no problem.  At the bottom of the log-in box is a link that says:

Lost your password?

Click this, and you should see a screen allowing you to retrieve a new password.  Enter your email, and press “Get New Password”.  If you are registered on the sub-site, you’ll get the login box appearing with a “Check your e-mail” message above it.

Follow the instructions in the email to reset your password, and then try logging back in to the site.

If however, the box comes back with the error message below:

ERROR: There is no user registered with that email address

then you are not registered on the sub-site, and you’ll need to request access.

2. How To Get Access

If your email address is not recognised, then this means that either you’ve not been granted access to the sub-site, or for some reason your permission has been revoked.

If you know the owner/administrator of the sub-site you are trying to access, contact them and they will be able to give you access.   If you don’t know the owner/administrator,  you will need to contact admin@aura-software.com and ask for access.

Getting Help

If you are stuck using medtronic-learning.com, then there are two things you can try:

  1. Search the knowledge base for the solution to your problem
  2. Contact support

We recommend searching before contacting support, as if the information is there, this is likely to be a faster way to find the solution to your problems.

1.  Searching

Find the search box on this page, and enter some keywords that will hopefully identify your problem.  Hit submit and have a look through the returned articles.

2. Contact Support

By dropping an email to admin@aura-software.com explaining your problem and how to reproduce it.   Please also give details of:

  1. The platform you are using (e.g. ipad, desktop)
  2. The browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer)
  3. The sub-site you are accessing (copy and paste the web address from the browser into the email)
  4. Where you are accessing the site from (e.g. home, office, using a 3G connection in a cafe, etc.)

Dealing With Network Problems

Sometimes, there can be issues around working on Bright from within an office with security features like a firewall and proxy servers.   Here are some tips if you suffer from network problems during taking a test on the Bright site:

  1. If you are in the middle of taking the exam and you run into network problems, don’t worry – your progress in the exam will not be lost and once your problems are resolved, you can carry on where you left off by launching in the same way.
  2. If you do lose your network connection during the exam, you should exit the exam and relaunch it.
  3. Sometimes, problems occur when using a secure proxy to access the test.  Consider disabling this and retrying.  (In Internet explorer, this can be done via Tools->Internet Options->Connections>Settings.)
