W.S. “Fluke” Holland, the only drummer who played with Johnny Cash, is known around the world as a true pioneer of a variety of American music genre including rockabilly, country, folk, and rock ‘n’ roll. His driving “train like” rhythms and innovative rockabilly shuffles are distinctively present on numerous classic hit records including some of rock ‘n’ roll’s original anthems such as “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Matchbox,” and “Honey Don’t” by Carl Perkins, “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Ring of Fire,” “I Walk the Line,” “Sunday Morning Coming Down,” and dozens of other iconic recordings by the legendary Johnny Cash & The Tennessee 3.

Holland played drums on the Bob Dylan/Cash sessions that resulted in Dylan’s famous “Nashville Skyline” album. When Cash, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson embarked on the tour, The Highwaymen, it was Holland who provided the group’s beat in concerts around the world. Considered “The World’s First Rock & Roll Drummer” and the first artist ever to play a full set of drums on the Grand Ole Opry stage, Holland has gained his rightful place in American music history and continues to inspire and influence artists worldwide today while playing with his own band
