Melbourne surfers eye Docklands wave pool

A group of investors has proposed the construction of an artificial wave pool at Docklands' Victoria Harbour, in Melbourne.

Engineering firm Arup alongside architect and surfer Damian Rogers have unveiled plans to build an eight million dollar surf park, off the end of Docklands Central Pier.

The project includes an artificial beach, heated and filtered salt water, lawn area, deck, shops, and 1.5-meter (4.9-foot) waves pumping down the line for 160 meters. The wave pool is 30-meter wide.

Surfing legend Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz dies at 93

Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz has passed away at 93 years old. His legacy will be forever remembered; his memories will inspire millions of surfers worldwide. "The greatest thing in life is health," Dorian once told.

He lived the ultimate surfing life. Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz, the Texan surfer who raised nine children in a camper, is one of the most important personalities in the history of surfing.

Dorian was born on March 3rd, 1921, in Galveston, Texas, USA. He was one of the three children born to Russian Jewish emigrants Louis and Rose Paskowitz. At only 12, he rode his first wave.
