It was the largest 3D art contest to ever run on the Web. Held over three months between 20 October 2003 - 20 January 2004, the Alienware Challenge hosted by CGNetworks attracted 1524 artists to the contest, of which 3876 images were uploaded and 146 emerged meeting all requirements for the final judging.
Sponsored by Alienware, CGNetworks, NVIDIA, PNY Technologies and Ballistic Publishing, the contest challenged contestants to create a 3D rendered image depicting an alien location. The grand prize is an Alienware MJ-12 DCC workstation featuring an Intel Dual Xeon 3.2 processor and an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3000 graphics card!
