Studio One 2.6.4 - Mac OS X 64-Bit with 32-Bit Plugin Compatibility

Alex Tinsley Oct 24 Studio One v2 / Common Solutions

Studio One 2.6.4 was released on October 21, 2014.

For Mac OS X, Studio One now boots to the 64-Bit version by default. If this creates a problem for any 32-bit plugins, there are two choices:

1) Go to the plugin vendor and get the 64-bit version of your plug-in.

or

2) Change Studio One 2.6.4 to start in 32-bit only mode.

To do this, open your Applications Folder and find click on the Studio One 2 icon to highlight it in the application directory.

Hold down your Command Key and press the letter 'i' on your keyboard to bring up the info window.

Check the box that says "Open in 32-Bit Mode"

Relaunch Studio One and now it will work with your 32-bit plug-ins.

Mac OSX 10.10 Yosemite Compatibility Statement as of Oct 20, 2014

Gary Oct 16 Announcements

Q: Is my PreSonus software and hardware compatible with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite?

Yosemite is now the latest commercial release of Apple's OSX series of operating systems. As of today, around 12:30 CST, it was announced that Yosemite is now commercially live and available to the public, ending its open Beta phase of testing and development. This latest version of their OS is hot off the presses and has not yet been completely qualified with PreSonus' currently shipping line of hardware, drivers, and software products. PreSonus developers have been testing Yosemite with our equipment and participating in the Beta, even prior to Yosemite going into its Public Beta phase. PreSonus and many other companies in the industry have direct interaction with Apple as they continue with their development of their new OS. This allows us, and our music industry family, to get as clear of a picture on how their new operating system works and interacts with our gear prior to its commercial launch. As many of the Public Beta participants have seen throughout the course of the open Beta, changes and updated builds have been released over time. Apple made changes and fixes for many initial issues that come about during early development, paving the way for Yosemite's commercial launch today.

What does that mean for PreSonus users?

Since we have not yet fully qualified the commercial version of Yosemite with our currently shipping product lines, you may encounter or experience some issues with the initial release and usage of this brand new operating system. Please reach out to us and let us know what you find. This will not only help us to locate and work on correcting any issues that might pop up initially, but additionally aid everyone in the PreSonus family. Some fixes can take a bit longer than others, so bear with us as we work hard to qualify and fix anything that may pop up during our testing.

As you know, Apple is quite a secretive company, keeping many specifics close to their chest, all the way until launch day. This secrecy even extends outward to any and all developers outside of the Apple-MacWorld walls. The various beta versions shared with external developers and even within the public beta (prior to the actual commercial release) do not ever fully reflect the final, commercial version that has made the cut to be the "Golden Seed" for the final public launch.

This means that PreSonus, like every other company that utilizes Apple's operating systems, will be highly focused on qualifying this new software to ensure that it works with existing gear and software. Users may note a short grace period from the time of commercial launch today, which we will need take in order to fully test Yosemite with all of our current hardware and software. Once this is evaluated and reviewed, PreSonus will release a public compatibility statement which will list our recent findings, alert you to any issues and any minor fixes for drivers or software that are currently being addressed as fast as possible.

In the event that you update to Yosemite in the next several days, there is always a potential that you may experience some issues. These may be similar to those that we may also note as we work to fully quantify this new OS with our equipment. Should this become an issue for your daily operations, utilizing PreSonus products (recording, studio work or performances), please revert back to the previous operating system you were originally working with.

**Please note: As a rule of thumb, especially when working in a recording studio environment or while in the middle of a digital audio recording project, it is never advised to make major changes to the recording environment. These changes include such things as updating your drivers, updating software versions, and especially updating your operating systems. One should never make such major changes to their recording environment until you have completed said projects. Once you have a gotten to a safe point, it would then be advisable to take the time to back up and/or make an image of your computer as a precautionary safeguard should anything bad occur during the update/upgrade process. Once this step is completed, it is a good time to do some intel gathering. Please take a moment and check in with us via support.presonus.com/forums/20979760-Announcements to see if there are known issues, issues currently being addressed and look for a comprehensive compatibility statement article released to inform everyone about how Yosemite interacts with our products. Once you have checked and double-checked that you are free and clear of known compatibility issues or bugs, it is fair to assess that you can update and upgrade your system.

                                         This rule of thumb is commonly known as "One of the First 5 Rules of the Studio".

PLEASE NOTE: As Apple makes updates to their new OSX Yosemite in coming weeks, such updates may alter our current know issues and compatibility with Yosemite.

 UPDATE: Oct 20, 2014 : The following products are qualified for Mac OS X 10.10 (Yosemite)

- Classic StudioLive 24.4.2, 16.4.2, 16.0.2 and FireStudio Project, FireStudio Mobile, FireStudioTube and FireStudio Lightpipe with Universal Control 1.7.2.

NOTE: If you have done an upgrade to 10.10 Yosemite instead of a clean install and you are experiencing problems with your StudioLive Classic or FireStudio device, we recommend doing a full manual uninstall and reinstall of Universal Control 1.7.2

See here for StudioLive Classic: support.presonus.com/entries/119040-How-do-I-Uninstall-Reins...

See here for FireStudio family: support.presonus.com/entries/113168-FireStudio-Family-How-do...

- FaderPort

- Studio One 2.6.3

- Notion 5

- Notion Conducting

Products we are working on qualifying:

- Capture 2.0

- Room Control

Problems we are aware of that we are working on resolving:

- Recording Audio with the StudioLive 32.4.2AI, StudioLive 24.4.2AI, and StudioLive 16.4.2AI mixers is currently not possible when using Universal Control AI 1.0.2.28882 as the mixers are not seen by Audio MIDI Setup as an audio device. However, control of the AI consoles is still possible using this version of Universal Control AI.

Please see here for a workaround until the issue is resolved.

- Recording Audio with a StudioLive RM Series mixer using either Universal Control AI 1.5.0.29399 or 1.5.0.29624 is currently not possible as it cannot be seen by Audio MIDI Setup as an audio device. However, control of the mixer is still possible using UC Surface.

- AudioBox USB, AudioBox 1818VSL, 44VSL, 22VSL, iOne and iTwo with AudioBox VSL 1.3 will not display or use control panel, until the device is hot-plugged. Hot plug means to pull the USB cable and then plug it back in. We do not recommend hot-plugging with your DAW (ie Studio One, etc) open.

iOS 8 Compatibility with PreSonus Applications

Alex Tinsley Sep 17 Announcements

Note Added October 23, 2014

IMPORTANT UPDATE!

iOS 8.1 fixes the all scrolling issues experienced with PreSonus Apps. Anyone experiencing scrolling issues in iOS 8 should update to iOS 8.1.

One minor issue with the current release of QMix AI on iOS 8 still remains however, in which off-screen dragging from left to right across the iPhone/iPod Touch screen will cause QMix AI to return to the Start Page. We have submitted a fix for this to Apple and expect the updated App with this fix will be available shortly on the App Store.

As of iOS 8.02 our iOS applications these iOS applications did not present any new issues that we were not already aware of.

iOS 8 is approved for use with:

* SL Remote Ai

* Room Control

* Q-Mix AI

* Capture Duo

* Capture

iOS 8 is approved for use with  the following iOS applications with some exceptions.

* SL Remote

* Q-Mix

* AudioBox 1818VSL Remote

Note Added October 6, 2014

We have been notified by the forum moderators and some customers that iOS 8 isn't working for everyone running SL Remote, Q-Mix or 1818VSL Remote.

We have logged an issue internally and have requested engineering to investigate and work on improving the scrolling for iOS 8.

We will post an update here and in our forums as soon as it becomes available.

Notion Testing shows that updates are needed for the following applications:

* Progression for iPad is compatible with iOS8 as of version 1.2.90 (should go to App store for most recent update available today 9/17/2014)

* Notion for iPad is compatible with iOS8 as of version 1.2.88 (should go to App store for most recent update available today 9/17/2014)
