Welcome to Vagrants

Ruins may well be all that remain in the wake of our culture of consumption and violence. They are the vital, enduring bones of our buildings and cities, long overgrown with ivy and brambles.

These ruins are not owned by anyone, and so they belong to us all. They are spaces in which our imaginations roam through all the could-have-beens and might-have-beens, which light small flames of mystery and wonder in our chests, and that remind us of something we have spent too long trying to ignore: that nothing lasts forever. That everything must have its end. We pitch our tents beneath their crumbling walls not because there is no other choice, but because it is the choice that we have made.

Vagrants Among Ruins is a UK-based publisher of speculative fiction and non-fiction that seeks to build a different relationship with the world that we all live in: creating new myths in the wake of peak oil, and promoting untrodden ways of living equally with one another and with the wilderness. We publish both in print and online, mostly under Creative Commons licences, and make everything we produce available for as little as we can afford.
