Keeping multi-currencies simple

Being able to support multi-currencies in Tracks has always been on our roadmap. This has been a key request from users since we started collecting feedback in August. So we’re pleased to share with you that we have just gone live with over 60 different currencies.

There were of course a few challenges like managing imports from Highrise, syncing deals and deciding on what it would actually look like on the pipeline interface. We got some good feedback from our Founding Members plus we had our own ideas. Here’s how it has ended up looking.

We think the addition of the pastel blue currency area is a nice touch (thanks Nathan!). It displays won, lost and pending deals across currencies. But if it’s too much for you then you can actually hide it under the “view” options. What we’ve also found is that by seeing won and lost totals for the month you can easily get a feel for the conversion rates. Yay!

One of the challenges we had from a design perspective was adding multi-currencies into the Quick Stats charts. With 2+ currencies the charts started to look cluttered. So after a good email exchange with Brain Suda (who wrote Designing with Data) we decided to give you the option of flicking through different currency charts. The upshot was that from an interface perspective all that changed was the addition of the currency drop-down you can see below. It took a bit of time to engineer, but we’re pleased with the end result.

Going forward we’ll be adding a “global” view to these charts where you can see all your deals at your default currency rate rather than individually. We’ll also we tidying up some of the design and perhaps adding an icon or two! As always let us know if you have any issues or feedback.

Thanks for reading.
