New Releases + Adventures In Design

October 9, 2014

I’ve got a few new releases. There are a few prints and a collaboration where MissHappyPink and I printed up some turntable slipmats!

We love excuses to make things together. We revisited this collaboration design and she suggested we print up some fun rockin’ slipmats!

Each package comes with some stickers, a thank you and some packaging love from us.

MissHappyPink has an exclusive Poison Pink design available in her shop!

Last week, I had the pleasure of helping out with a live episode of a podcast i very much enjoy called: Adventures In Design.

The next morning, the host came over to Crackhead Press and did a one on one AID AM interview with me that will air Tuesday morning wherever you find your podcasts. I am pretty picky about what I listen to, but have found a lot of great humor and advice in this show choked full of information and jackassery.

Goofing around

September 16, 2014

This is revising my Bourbon Rat art print from a few years back. It’s been a lot of fun to play with.

Doing the CincyComicCon last week was a ton of fun. It’s always great to see a show where the curators really care about their event and harvesting creators instead of choking a convention center with vendors all selling the same stuff.

Working on Facebook’s HACKTOBER graphics always gets my blood pumping for Halloween. I’ll show that stuff pretty soon.

I’m aiming to get into the shop maybe by the end of the week. I’ve got a bunch of stuff that needs to get onto paper!

I apparently don’t have much to run my mouth about so … uh… here’s a drunken rat!

AC: Unity Poster Delay

July 31, 2014

I apologize as i’ve gotten multiple emails about this. Some of my Assassin’s Creed: Unity posters arrived damaged.

I’m currently waiting to hear back on the FedEx claim I’ve filed before I can release the others for sale.

Hopefully, this can be resolved next week. Thanks so much for your patience!

Assassin’s Creed Unity: Short

July 25, 2014

Recently, I worked on some stuff with my friend Tony Moore, John Rauch and Rob Zombie for Assassin’s Creed: Unity.

New Science Agency called me up and wanted to animate some of my work. I thought this sounded amazing and then remembered, “I don’t do sequential illustration” and went on to say, “I don’t want to talk myself out of a job, but I know someone I might be able to collaborate with to make this work” and got Tony on the phone.

Inspired by Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’, New Science produced an animated short film which debuted at Comic-Con 2014 before a sold-out crowd. Set in the French Revolution, the story was reimagined by musician / director Rob Zombie and featured the illustrative works of Tony Moore, co-creator of The Walking Dead. Together,we crafted a film which highlights the chaos and brutality of the French Revolution, painting the streets of Paris red with blood.

The film generated over 300,000 views on YouTube in the first 48 hours of its release; and within minutes of its debut, features hit the web on Rolling Stone, SPIN, Variety, Game Informer, IGN, GameSpot, Blabbermouth, Loudwire, and many others.

The idea for the story was fun. The French Revolution is one of the goriest times the world has had and has a great juxtoposition of decadent and elegant visuals tied together with poverty, desparation and grime. Not to mention one of the coolest ‘humane’ death sentances: the guilliotine! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

To wrap up the whole project, Tony and I designed a screenprinted poster. 500 limited edition silk-screened posters that were distributed at the ‘Assassin’s Creed Unity Experience’ outdoor obstacle course at Comic-Con. The poster features Unity’s hero ‘Arno’ in front of a stained-glass window peppered with images from the animated short. Each poster was numbered and signed by the artists.

Basically, we landed in San Diego and went, “oh crap. We have to sign 775 posters”

We will each have 100 available from the run. They are signed by both of us.

Mine are available on my website: Angryblue.com as of 7.30.2014

There’s a detailed write-up of the process here at my Behance portfolio.

It was a few REALLY rough weeks of work, but I am incredibly happy to have been part of this experience and have my name on this project.

watch the full animated short here.

Assassin’s Creed: Unity

July 25, 2014

My buddy Tony Moore and I worked on this print in tandem with creating an animated short for Ubisoft with Rob Zombie and John Rauch.

It features the main character ‘Arno’ with scenes from the short peppered into the stained glass background. The print is limited to a run of 775 total. 500 will be given away at San Diego Comic Con 2014 to the first people to arrive at the #assassinscreed course.Tony and I each will have 100 available on our respective websites. These 18×24 3-color posters are signed by BOTH artists and have a clear gloss hit that lays on top of the black and metallic red wrapped up in a natural-toned paper. Just wait until you see the animated trailer we did!!!

Primus Poster!

May 14, 2014

I’ll be releasing my copies of this guy tomorrow here at my shop!

“It’s May 14th, 2014 & Tonight’s poster by “Angryblue” is an instant classic… Skeeter’s brethren ? A formidable foe..?
100 hand printed, pre-tubed, artist signed and numbered copies will be available at the venue (which due to impending weather has been changed to The Metroplex Event Center.)”

These will be on sale on 5.15.14

18×24
5 colors
Printed at Crackhead Press in Louisville, KY

Run of 200. Only 50 of those are available here.

I will have A/P copies available after those.

The Blue in these photos is actually sort of wrong. It’s more like the mockup – I guess the lights at the shop confused my camera or something.

R.I.P. H.R. Giger

May 13, 2014

The week I turned 30, I was in Zurich with Jeral Tidwell and David Witt. We wanted to go to the Giger Museum, but our time slot of opportunity was such that it would’ve been closed by the time we arrived there – we ended up knocking on the door to H.R. Giger’s home. His cat came out to greet us, but other than that, no one answered.

We left a bunch of posters with the cat and took photos sitting in a evil stone throne that was in his yard – which looked like the setting for a very terrifying Sanford and Son reboot. Even the concrete slabs tossed around the yard to his shed were biomechanical.

Giger opened up my eyes to the decadence & beauty that can be found in the crunchy grime of the dark.

I remember playing Dark Seed specifically because of his work. Most of my sketchbooks when I was younger were filled with cutouts of photocopies of his work. His cultural impact on the art world was vast, hypersexual, repulsive and beautiful

This is a terrible photo of me being a creeper in the yard of one of my early inspirations. Surrealism incarnate.
