“Yes! I love looking at the weakest chapter. I look at the class mastery level for each chapter. I bring the misconceptions data into the classroom, and make it part of the lecture.“

Summary:

CREATING A QUESTION COLLECTION - In order to create a question collection, first go to the question library. In the question library, you may browse by chapter, keyword, taxonomy or class data. Once you complete your search, add a new question collection and give it a title. Choose the questions you wish your students to see and drag them into your question collection folder. Once you are satisfied with your question collection, click on the folder to assign it to a class, export it, rename it, or copy it for your own purposes.

Summary:

STUDENT VIEW FOR INSTRUCTORS - As an instructor sometimes you’ll wish to know what your students are seeing. Instructors can switch to student view by clicking the link at the top of the page and confirming their switch to student view. On a typical student page you’ll see the student’s strengths and weaknesses and their performance by chapter. You can also take a quiz as the student would (the answers you submit don’t go into your class average), just to verify that the assignment is adequately customized. To close student view simply click “return to instructor view” and you’ll be taken back to your instructor homepage. The answers given by an instructor in student view are not counted towards calibration or assignment stats, so you can do as you please without affecting your class data in any way.

Summary:

THE HOW IS MY CLASS DOING PAGE - On the “How’s my class doing?” page you’ll see the mastery level as an average of all the students’ performance. You’ll also find a histogram which shows the number of students at each mastery level. You will see the strengths and weaknesses of your class as well as the overall usage – the number of students who have enrolled or taken a quiz and when in the year they have taken them. You can also see specific misconceptions they might have. Compare the performance of your students with all students enrolled in PrepU. Find out how many times each student has logged in and the number of quizzes they’ve taken, questions they have answered and their mastery levels. From this page you can also find the code to give students so that they can enroll in your class.

Summary:

EXPORTING A QUESTION COLLECTION - If you want your students to take your quiz on paper instead of online you can export the collection. When you click “export” under the question collection it gives you a window that is easy to print. Scroll down to see all the questions in the collection as well as the answer key.

Summary:

ASSIGNING A MASTERY LEVEL QUIZ - To assign your students a quiz that is based on mastery levels click “assign a quiz” on your instructor homepage and choose “mastery level”. Mastery level assignments allow students to continue quizzing until they reach the level of understanding that you choose. Some students may reach this is just a few quizzes, and others might need more time to get to this level. Choose the content, name the quiz, choose the chapter that you‘d like your student to quiz on and choose a target mastery level. Your students will complete the assignment once they’ve achieved that mastery level. Determine which class the assignment should be given to, decide how much it is worth and set a deadline (after which students won’t be able to take it). Once your assignment is complete it will be live and your students will be able to see it when they go to their home page in PrepU.

Summary:

ASSIGNING A QUESTION COLLECTION QUIZ - To assign a question collection to your students as a quiz, click on the relevant collection, name the assignment and save. Assign it to your class, determine how many points it is worth, set deadlines or create a time limit (once students begin they must complete the assignment in a specified time.) If you wish to, you may show each student the answer key upon her completion of the assignment. You can also have the entire class see the answer key at the end of the testing period or on the date the assignment is due. Once your assignment is complete it will be live and your students will be able to see it when they go to their home page in PrepU.
