1. If Australian Minister of Trade Craig Emerson appeared on the front pages of the world's leading press as often as Obama, no doubt he’d have made it onto the list of nominees too. VoR thinks his bursting into song during a television interview about carbon emissions tax deserves more coverage...

2. NME claims that US President Barack Obama’s musical taste may even have helped him get re-elected. He was certainly on good form during the election campaign, singing duets with rock star Mick Jagger and the king of blues, B.B. King.

3. Obama’s rival in the elections, Republican Mitt Romney, was also eager to perform, but was it a wise move?

4. Now check out then Prime Minister of Russia Vladimir Putin, singing Blueberry Hill at a charity party in St. Petersburg a few years ago. Spot the famous faces in the audience too.

5. Italy’s Silvio Berlusconi, loves to sing. The former prime minister even produces his own albums as a songwriter. Who knew?

6. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, currently recovering from cancer treatment in Cuba, showed his love of singing during a state visit to Moscow, when he sang and played the maracas with students at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia. Chavez regularly accompanies his speeches with a song in the TV program ‘Aló, Presidente’.

7. The Voice of Russia has repeatedly received complaints from the Romanian President - which is why the discovery that Traian Basescu also sings was a pleasant surprise for our editorial staff. His performance during a talk show is very popular on YouTube.

8. There are many politicians in the post-Soviet area who love to sing, too. Ukraine holds the No 1 slot among the CIS countries in this regard. President Viktor Yanukovych reportedly plays the guitar and sings karaoke. During the celebration of the 80th anniversary of his native Donetsk region last July, Yanukovych sang a duet with Joseph Kobzon.

9.And it turns out that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko also has some musical talent to offer - the politician not only sings, he also plays the button accordion!
