Get Your Computer Ready to Return to Campus!

We hope you are having a great summer and look forward to your return to campus. Information Technology and Services (ITS) has been working to prepare for the fall semester, and here are some things you should keep in mind as you get ready to come to Syracuse University.

Sam, previously associate CIO for administrative systems, now oversees Information and Technology Services (ITS) and reports to Vice Chancellor and Provost Eric Spina.

ITS continues to implement new information security measures

Security threats to higher education are on the increase. In the last year alone, more than 3 million data records have been reported exposed at colleges and universities nationwide, and millions more have been exposed at other organizations and businesses. Mediasite harnesses technology to transform instruction and pedagogy

The future of lecture capture has arrived at SU. ITS’s Learning Environments (LE) group has been working for almost a year to install, test, and deploy Mediasite, a comprehensive lecture capture, enterprise webcasting, and video content management system by Sonic Foundry.

SU’s Digital Signage Network sees growth in screens while upgrade increases capabilities

Information technology administrators that use SU’s Digital Signage Network (DSN) met to discuss an upgrade to the production environment and the possible integration of Internet Protocol TV.

New Virtual Desktop Infrastructure from Administrative Computing Services

Aware of SU’s need for a fully functional remote desktop service to support user mobility, ITS’s Administrative Computing Services (ACS) team is starting to roll out a new virtual Windows 7 computing environment called virtual desktop infrastructure, or VDI.

ITS launches accessibility training

Registrations are being accepted for more sessions of the award-winning workshop “Accessibility Fundamentals for Microsoft Office 2013 and Adobe Acrobat XI (Windows).” This workshop will help build faculty and staff awareness of, sensitivity to, and proficiency in ensuring the accessibility of course materials, presentations, events, documents, websites, and online resources.
