Lars Bjørnshauge
Lars was Director of Libraries at Lund University from 2001 to 2011 and founded the DOAJ in 2003. He became Managing Editor of DOAJ in January 2013. He has vast experience in: change management; the re-engineering of academic libraries; the development of information services for research & higher education. He has been a strong advocat of open access and for providing services to the open access movement (open access to research publications). He is co-founder of OpenDOAR and the Directory of Open Access Books. Since 2011, he is the Director of SPARC Europe and was in 2013 elected as member of the OASPA Board.
Caroline Sutton
Caroline Sutton is Publisher and Co-Founder at Co-Action Publishing, where she is heavily involved with business development, marketing and promotion activities. Caroline currently serves as President of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association (OASPA). In addition she serves as Chair of the Advisory Board for OAPEN, and is a member of the SPARC Europe Board. Earlier she served on the Lund University Library Board (2008-2010), and the Advisory Board for Linköping University Press. She is a recognized advocate and expert on Open Access publishing, has acted as Rapporteur for the European Commission, took part in the Budapest Open Access Initiative talks in 2012, and regularly speaks and holds workshops on Open Access publishing.
Caroline holds a PhD in Sociology from Uppsala University, Sweden, an MA from the University of Stockholm, and a BA degree from University California Santa Barbara.
Alma Swan
Alma Swan is a consultant working in the field of scholarly communication. She is a Director of European Advocacy Programmes for SPARC Europe, Director of Key Perspectives Ltd and Convenor for Enabling Open Scholarship, the organisation of universities promoting the principles of open scholarship in the academic community. She holds honorary academic positions in the University of Southampton School of Electronics & Computer Science and the University of Warwick Business School.
Her work covers market research and business modelling, project management and evaluation, research communication practices and behaviours, and the study and promotion of new forms of scholarly communication in the age of the Web. She writes and makes frequent presentations on scholarly communication issues.
Alma has BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Southampton and an MBA from Warwick Business School. She is a Fellow of the Society of Biology (UK) and a Chartered Biologist, has just completed three terms as an elected member of the Governing Board of Euroscience (the European Association for the Promotion of Science & Technology) and is the former editor of its online magazine, The Euroscientist. She chaired the 10th Anniversary meeting of the Budapest Open Access Initiative in Budapest in February 2012 and serves on a number of advisory boards. [Full biography]
