Help with PDFs
All Traveller articles held in the Audley Archive are stored in Portable Document Format (PDF). Developed by Adobe, this format has rapidly become the internet-standard for viewing printed documents over the web.
To view and print PDF files you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, a free ‘plug-in’ easy to download. Most modern computers come with Acrobat Reader pre-installed. However if you find you are unable to open any of the articles in our archive, you may need to download and install this software.
Instructions for Downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader
It is recommended that you print this page before downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader. All documents held in the Audley Archive are in Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF). If you encounter problems opening the files in our archive it is likely that you do not have Acrobat Reader installed. Use the following instructions to download a copy.
- Go to the Adobe Acrobat Home Page at www.adobe.com
- Select the relevant Acrobat Reader version.
- Choose your platform version (PC or MAC), and language version.
- Click the Download button.
- When promoted to “Save” or “Run”, select “Run”.
- This will install Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- You may receive a warning that the application that is trying to run is unauthorised or not recognised.
- Click “Allow” or “OK”.
- Once complete, you are now capable of viewing PDF files.
Tips on Downloading PDF files
- PDFs can be viewed online or saved to your computer to be printed or read later.
- For PC - right-click on the link to the article that you wish to download and choose “Save Link As” (in Netscape Navigator) or “Save Target As” (in Internet Explorer) and specify a memorable location where you wish to save the document.
- For Macintosh - Option-click on the link of the file that you wish to download and specify a local path and file name.
- Once the file has been downloaded, it is possible to open it locally using Adobe Acrobat Reader simply by double clicking on the document’s icon.
