What is WebGIS?

WebGIS is an Internet based technology that enables users to browse, query, and display spatial data using a standard web browser.

The ORNL DAAC WebGIS includes a number of land cover, biophysical, elevation, and geopolitical layers, as well as access to other relevant Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) layers. Users can interrogate map features and extract and download selected map features including map layers (shape files).

What is OGC?

The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) is a non-profit, international, voluntary consensus standards organization that is leading the development of standards for geospatial and location based services.

ORNL DAAC OGC Services

The ORNL DAAC supports Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Coverage Service (WCS) OpenGIS protocols.

OGC Spatial Data Access

The ORNL DAAC OGC Spatial Data Access tool provides a web interface to visualize and download spatial data. Land cover, biophysical, elevation, and selected ORNL DAAC archived data are available through the spatial data access tool. Users can extract subsets of data, visualize, and download data in various file format and projection.
