A Genetic Disposition Toward Stripes

14 Nov

Since it’s finally “cold” out here in San Diego, I’ve needed to re-organize my closet to make room for winter clothes. I decided to arrange my hanging shirts in color groupings so I could get a better sense of what I have (plus it looks nice).

I noticed that I have an awful lot of striped shirts.

These aren’t even all of them…

I can’t help myself! I love stripes and gravitate toward them over and over again. Why? Jim says that I must have been a pirate or a convict in another life.

But after my mom brought out all of my baby clothes that she had saved for my children, there seems to be a genetic component to my go-to fashion choices.

And these aren’t even all of them either…

Proof that fashion sense can be inherited. Case closed.

Is there anything you buy over and over again? (I’m also guilty of a love of black t-shirts.)

And those are just the shirts in that particular size! You were a Lacoste fiend…;)

hahahaha…. love it. Aarrrrrr… Cap’n Cara and her first mates, Caroline and Kelly. Dublin, me matey, swab the deck! Can you tell I was imagining a whole pirate story? (I know – too much time on my hands.) You look great in stripes! Me, I have too many solids… and pink or red things. :)

Haha. You’ve helped feed my stripe habit with Caroline’s latest outfit! We’ll show it off at Christmas.

Oh, I am *right* with you and your mom on the stripes. And I have apparently passed it along to both girls. Mad and Fynnie probably have a good half dozen pairs of striped pants in active use, as well as several pairs of striped tights. And Fynnie’s new striped knee socks were a much bigger hit than Mad’s new flowery ones.

Haha, yes! I just love striped leggings on the little ones — so cute.

I forgot to mention, they’re not called stripes around here, they’re called “schwipes.”

One of my daughters will only wear stripes at the moment! She would be envious of your wardrobe! I quite like stripes too though.

So funny! Can’t wait to see how the girls’ “fashion sense” evolves. The other day Caroline wanted to wear mismatching socks :)

Haha this is awesome! I definitely have a tendency toward blue, purple or pink in my closet. And far too many shirts from Ann Taylor LOFT. :)

Yeah I think Loft accounts for a disproportionate section of all of our closets…
