[column size="1-2"]WHAT?
Hide Your Arms is a t-shirt & hoodie blog founded in January 2006 which aims to provide news, deals, coupons and competitions from around the indie clothing industry and beyond. The site aims to showcase the best creative talent in the t-shirt world, whilst having a bit of fun in the process with more mainstream pop culture designs as well. HYA has grown a lot over it’s 6 years of existence, and is now read by more than 100,000 people every month, each one eager to get their hands on great t-shirts and clothing.[/column] [column size="1-2" last="1"]WHO?
HYA used to be a one man operation, with Andy dealing with every aspect of the site, but these days it’s much more of a team affair, with many talented writers from around the globe helping with the heavy lifting and helping to expand the variety and style of clothing being showcased on the site. Check out the attractive bunch of bloggers on the contributors page, and feel free to get in touch if you would like to join the team.[/column]

    Hi Andy,

I’m an MA student at the London College of Fashion and currently doing some research for an assignment and wondered if I could pick your brain? My topic is on consumer trends and my research is on the idea of technology being an enabler for consumers to play a more active role by producing their own content. I’m using the e.g. of the phenomenon of blogging and customisation facilities provided by sites like Threadless and Spreadshirt.

Would really appreciate if you could provide some insights on:
    a. why you think blogging has become such a phenomenon?
    b. why you started a t-shirt blog and what do you offer and in turn receive from the virtual community?
    c. why do you think people are getting into customisation especially with t-shirts? do you perceive its popularity and demand to stay niche?

Would really appreciate your reply. Thanks for your time and apologies for the nerdy questions!

    thanks heaps,
    lainey
