The School of Clinical Medicine - Excellence in Research

Research at the School

The aim of the School is to conduct internationally excellent peer reviewed basic, clinical and translational research relating to a diverse range of medical conditions and treatments.

The Addenbrooke’s campus also houses the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, the MRC Dunn Nutrition Unit, the CRUK-Cancer Research Institute, which has close links with the Department of Oncology, and the Addenbrooke’s Clinical Research Centre which includes the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility. The Clinical School currently comprises over 600 academic and contract research staff including 81 Professors and Readers, 33 Senior/University Lecturers and 73 Senior Research Fellows (funded by MRC, Wellcome Trust, CRUK and other major medical charities). More than 500 NHS staff, both clinical Consultants and those in Professions allied to Medicine, make a major contribution to the teaching and research base of the Clinical School.

There are many research themes which are jointly covered by the School of Clinical Medicine and the School of Biological Sciences. For more information please visit the Life Sciences Research in Cambridge website
