Medical Rescue in Juneau

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew prepares the victim of a nearly fatal fall for evacuation from St. James Bay to Juneau where he will be transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment. In an average year, the Coast Guard responds to 25,886 search and rescue cases and saves over 4,880 lives.

Above the Seneca

The Coast Guard Cutter Seneca patrols in the Straits of Florida. Homeported in Boston, the cutter's missions range from protecting and enforcing laws for living marine resources to deploying in support of joint agency intercepts of drug smugglers in the Caribbean Sea. The cutter uses tools such as armed helicopters, infra-red cameras and non-lethal technology to stop drug-laden go-fast vessels.

Securing the Small Boat

A small boat from the Cutter Swordfish returns after checking recreational boats in Puget Sound. The Swordfish is an 87-foot patrol boat homeported at Group/Air Station Astoria in Port Angeles, Wash. The vessels missions inlcude maritime law enforcement, search and rescue and protecting living marine resources.

Forever Vigiliant

This Coast Guard boat, a law enforcement special purpose craft, is used for search and rescue, high-speed pursuit cases, and port and waterways coastal security. Here the boat escorts a cruise liner out to sea. The crew member is returning a wave to a passenger aboard a cruise ship leaving Miami.

The goal of the Coast Guard’s Community Relations is to foster positive relationships within the communities we live and operate. We develop, maintain and improve public understanding and support of the Coast Guard’s missions through interaction with our communities. We support our communities in a variety of ways including partnering with schools, participating in speaking engagements, loaning Coast Guard art to museums, and participating in parades, events and holiday observances. Beyond our local involvement, many national Coast Guard programs give you the opportunity to learn more about who we are and offer us the opportunity to listen to your concerns.
