Iā€™m a mother, daughter, writer and editor. In other words, Iā€™m four people living in a single body. Mind you, it gets very crowded in here at times, especially when my characters decide they have to have my attention, all my attention, no matter what I'm doing at the time. It can make for some interesting times, especially when I catch myself working out a fight scene or carrying on an argument with one of the more stubborn characters about why I can't drop everything just to write a scene for them NOW.

I'll be honest, I'm like a lot of writers. For a number of years, I wrote, but everything went under my bed or in my closet, never to see the light of day. Then I met Sarah A. Hoyt. Not only is Sarah an excellent writer, one of the few I've found who can write just about anything she puts her mind to and write it well, but she is also a hard taskmaster. Once she found out I wrote, she kept at me until I sent her something I'd done. Then she delivered a cyber smack upside my head and told me to quit hiding my work.

Because she bullied and cajoled and encouraged, I did as she said. The result was that my short story,  Bump in the Night, was originally published in the anthology Better Off Undead (DAW Books).  Since then, she's been not only mentor but friend as well. Any success I have, I owe to her.

When not writing, or paying homage to the cat and assuring the dog he is loved, I am senior executive editor (read chief bottle washer ;-p ) for Naked Reader Press.
