We are pleased to announce that Bradley M. Kuhn will be a keynote speaker at Ohio LinuxFest 2011.

Bradley M. Kuhn is the Executive Director of the Software Freedom Conservancy, a non-profit home for Free, Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) projects. Kuhn began his work in the Software Freedom Movement as a volunteer in 1992 as an early adopter of the popular GNU/Linux operating system, and began contributing to various FLOSS projects. He worked during the 1990s as a system administrator, software developer, and high school Computer Science teacher. He served as the Executive Director of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) from 2001-2005, when he left FSF to join the founding team of the Software Freedom Law Center (SFLC). Kuhn worked for SFLC as its Policy Analyst and Technology Director from 2005 to 2010. Kuhn co-founded the Software Freedom Conservancy in 2006, and has been its President since inception. Since 2010, Kuhn has also been on the Board of Directors of FSF.

Cathy Malmrose to Keynote Ohio LinuxFest 2011

Ohio LinuxFest is excited to announce that Cathy Malmrose, co-founder of ZaReason.com, will be a keynote speaker at this year's Conference and Expo.

Cathy, along with her husband Earl, founded an optimized-for-Linux computer company in early 2007 after a complete and joyous conversion to Ubuntu. The switch provided such a distinct improvement in quality of life that Cathy began creating a company structure that would put muscle behind building hardware that showcases the sturdiness of free and open software. She is combining the market reach of an online store with the accessibility of local little self-sustaining stores to allow people to touch, see, and feel the computers they use for their mission critical work.

Before ZaReason.com, Cathy founded a non-profit, Partimus.org to support computers in education. She initially began in curriculum development, technical writing, and software development.

OLF 2010 Audio Files

How embarrassing! A loyal Ohio LinuxFest attendee pointed out that the link for the audio recordings of last year's conference were missing from the website.

Here's a link for you www.archive.org/details/OhioLinuxfest2010.

Many thanks to Vance and all the rest of the audio team for their hard work, and apologies to them -- and YOU -- for not making these files more visible!

Call for Volunteers

Ohio LinuxFest needs your help!

Hi OLFers!

I am currently coordinating volunteers and can use your help!

If you are interested in volunteering and know what you would like to do, drop me a line with details. If you are interested in volunteering and are up for anything, drop me a line. If you want to volunteer but can only spare a couple of hours, drop me a line!

We are most in need of finding help for the check-in desk and for assisting with the talks (starting/ending on time and fielding questions), as well as locals to the Columbus area to help transport folks to & from the airports.

Please send your interest, a phone number and whether you are local to Columbus to schultmc@ohiolinux.org -- and thanks!

Volunteer Coordinator
