FRACTOID 2.1

Fractoid 2.1 is the second in a series of projection mapped sculptures.  Fractoid 2.1 is synched to futuristic beat-machines and operates based off of audience interaction. When certain combinations of keystrokes are entered on the midi controller, the kinetic sculpture has the ability to rotate into different 3 shapes. Full credits listed on the Vimeo page.

The end result of a few weeks spent at The Mill NY researching and developing various graphic styles that can be replicated through procedural trials. All of the particles were created as if in an invisible cube. They will later be projected onto a physical cube as part of the new interactive installation.

Oscar-winning director Alex Gibney’s latest documentary, We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks, follows the controversial whistleblowing site and its even more controversial leader, Julian Assange.

Thru projection mapping, the user would be able to pick up his car model, change the color, and even see it parking in front of his own house.Early concepts Frames I did for Bossa studio in NY.
Also I was part of the composting team over at Hornet creating the assets for the Projection mapping final stage.
Where Guillerme directed an amazing projection mapped sequence with over 7 projectors and all kinds  of technical madness.

METALLOID TROOPER KERNEL FESTIVAL 2012

The first iteration of the Metalloid Trooper makes it now a interactive sculpture that triggers various graphics and audio when certain volume peaks are reached in the ambient sound.
The underlying non linear story about the journey of the extra-dimensional being, trapped in earth, and poisoned by humans.
Special sound effects by Chris Lane. The sound reactive sculpture was presented at the Kernel Festival in Milan, Italy. Click here for more pictures of the festival.

F R A C T O I D

Fractoid is a projection mapped sound sculpture that works as a futuristic beat-machine. People interact with it through alight emitting midi controller composed of 36 glowing keys and 10knobs which control
and enable the live mixing of the audiovisual output, a video-camera transmitting real time feedback, a joystick moving a focal 3d light over the sculpture and a set of two directional speakers.
This installation was custom made for the Lightning in a Bottle 2012music/art festival in LA, the concept behind the whole piece was to build an interactive piece that attracts people passing by, to play and compose their one scores during the 3-day musical frenzy.
Three forces collaborated to give life to the piece, Mike Russek built the 6.5´ sculpture and designed and built the retro-looking midi console, Chris Lane created the sound design from a tight and exiting dialogue with me, who designed the
sculpture and the visuals and programmed the whole system in TD.
Awesome team, amazing experience!

LCD SOUNDSYSTEM LIVE ALONE

New York city is the background for this a nostalgic and fast paced story about a character, a creator, who trough-out the video builds a machine heart that represents love. He fills this heart with super magnetic memory fields containing default memories (it is the problematic of one person, that represents many at the same time), only to have it burned at the end. Better kept than lived. “but I’m in love with you, want to stay in love with you…so I’m going to live alone”
Talking a little about technicalities, we can say that no light bulb was turned on, no machine/gadget was plugged in. Everything was lit and came to life through projection mapping and the animations that where created for all scenes. Everything was shot with a 7D, and a gopro Hero.
The video was done in two months by two great friends, motion designer and animator Gabriel Pulecio aka lustix.com who directed the piece and digital artist Lorena Kraus.

With a new 2012 holographic foil logo with UV coating on the front of the card and silver and white foil on the back, we are presented with the aftermath of uniqueness in every piece.

METALLOID TROOPER I

Metalloid Trooper is the first attempt to combine projection mapping and inflatable sculpting. The inflatable sculpture model was designed in 3D to be later translated into fabric and then put together as a inflatable piece that stands on its own and becomes a screen. This 3 dimensional screen is a provoking surface for the development of a series of animations. The animation explores different materials and textures along with some light effects that are carefully synked with an audio track to create an intense and perceptual immersive experience. The result was striking.
