Yarn Along

August 22, 2012

~ Two of my favorite things are knitting and reading, and the evidence of this often shows up in my photographs.  I love seeing what other people are knitting and reading as well. So, what are you knitting or crocheting right now? What are you reading? Take a photo and share it either on your blog or on Flickr. Leave a link below to share your photo with the rest of us! ~

I am still reading the same book, and I am still knitting the same sweater.  BUT, I am almost finished with both.  The Betrothed is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read.  I’ve had to fight the urge to drop everything to read for the past week.  I have discovered that I definitely love historical fiction. The stack on my nightstand is growing with all the books I want to read next, all of them much lighter reads which I am looking forward to as well.  I am at the very end of the second sleeve on Larkspur’s sweater and it will be finished.  I’ve still got a cowl, a shawl, and some socks (Seth requested that I add three inches to the length of each {SIGH} so I still haven’t moved on to the heel) on the needles, but I know that I’m going to want to cast on something new as soon as the sweater is finished. (updated to add: I stayed up late and finished the sweater!!)

    Hi,
First time over here and I enjoyed my visit. I love reading your post. Your sweater looks beautiful.
I’m going to look for the betrothed, sounds like my kind a read.
Thanks for the link button, I’ll put on my side bar to be sure and come back again to see what everyone is working on.

What a nice old battered book! I can’t understand anyone getting nearly as much pleasure from reading on a Kindle! I’m reading The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, which is excellent, and very cleverly set over a lifetime, with great attention to historical detail. Highly recommendable!

I’ve only just discovered your blog, glad I have! spacer

I need to just sit down and finish my sweater too. But then I’d have to decide on the next project and that is sooo difficult!

I’m not linking today because I’m still working on the same Immie sweater, but I just wanted to say that I am always impressed by how lovely and even your stitches are.

It’s so hard to keep up with everything that wants to be knit, isn’t it! I squeeze too many late nights in search of a few more completed rows.
I’m interested in your book. I love classic historical novels!

Hooray for finished sweaters! Have you ever read “Katherine”, by Anya Seton? It’s one of my old favourites, and you may enjoy it, too!

Yes!!! It’s one of my favorites too. I just read that one last year (or the year before.) So good.

    Hi Ginny,

I’m joining in again. Looking forward to seeing the finished photos of Larkspurs jumper, I don’t know how you manage to do what you do!

I love that you stayed up late to finish the sweater! I stayed up late trying to finish a chapter on my book, despite knowing I’d have to get up super early. Sometimes these things are so worth the quiet, later night time alone!

Congratulations on finishing the sweater! I’ve never managed to finish one for an adult. My limit seems to be about 4 year old sweaters. I love the look of your well thumbed book. Hope to see a picture of your finished sweater.

I also want to say thanks for hosting this link party. It’s been a source of motivation to get me reading properly again. Thank you so much!

ACK! It kills me that you knit so quickly! I love the lovely mousy brown of the sweater. Those natural colors are my personal favorites.

I laughed at your comment about having to make the socks longer. When little boys show any interest in our knitting, we all listen, don’t we?! Congrats on finishing the sweater. I’m sure you’ll be nice and tired today…but the sweater is done! I’ve spent too many nights up late knitting and paying for it later. Have a great day.
