Encoding For ios4 and FireFox

Follow these instructions to encode your video for FireFox browsers (WebM)

1. Visit the WebM project website to see a list of encoders available for free or for purchase (here).

2. Re-encode your video to the WebM format so that the name is exactly the same except the extension will be .webm

3. Upload your video to the media library (use the file upload button instead of video). Note: do not add the video to a menu item only the original video needs to be in a gallery (menu item) and when the FireFox browser is used the site will play the proper version.

Follow these instructions to encode your video for older iPhones (3) running iOS4

1. Open your video in quicktime pro or any video encoding software.

2. Re-encode the video as MPEG-4 so that it does not exceed 640 x 480 and 2500 kbps. Very Important: Under video options you must restrict the profile to Baseline.

3. After your videos are re-encoded for ios4 they will have the exact same name and extension as your original videos. To differentiate them in the media library add .mobile to the name before the extension (e.g. myvideo.mp4 becomes myvideo.mobile.mp4 and coolvid.mp4 becomes coolvid.mobile.mp4.

4. 3. Upload your video to the media library. Note: do not add the video to a menu item only the original video needs to be in a gallery (menu item) and when iPhones running iOS4 visit the site will play the proper version.
