Since 2006, National Schools of Character have submitted lesson plans that demonstrate how they connect curriculum to their schools' core values and enhance their character education efforts. Use the lesson plans below to inspire and guide your school toward effective character education. Each lesson plan relates to CEP's 11 Principles of Effective Character Education.

Introducing Academic Integrity

This lesson helps students understand what academic integrity is and why it is important. Students work together to develop a definition and then they create examples of academic integrity in action resulting in a wall display. Grades 6, 7 and 8

School Violence Awareness – Anti-Bullying Typographic Poster Design Project
Hanover Park Regional High School, Eastover, New Jersey
Typography is used as a main visual element in a design and may be connected to math, language arts, and word languages. This project requires the students to design a typographic poster that helps raise awareness about the harmful effects of school violence.   Grade Level: High School

Eco-Project: What’s Wrong with the World? And how do we fix it?
Kay Granger Elementary School, Keller Texas
Students work together to research an ecological issues and then specify solutions that families can take to address the issue.  Teachers should be familiar with ecological issues, their causes and consequences.  Curricular standards addressed include; research, writing a multi-paragraph essay, writing a persuasive essay, editing and revising, speaking and listening skills, and technology standards. Grade Level: 3rd grade and higher
