SEIU Member Candidate Program

SEIU members serve in public offices across the country – serving in their State Legislatures, Public Pension Boards, City Councils, County School Boards, and much more. SEIU not only works to build and maintain relationships with our members that hold office, but we work to identify, recruit, train and support qualified members to run for local, state or federal office.

Partners The SEIU Member Candidate Program works with organizations and SEIU local unions across the country to identify and recruit qualified members to run for office.



SEIU partners with Wellstone Action to provide candidate and campaign worker trainings that provide members with an understanding of what it takes to run and the necessary elements of a succesful campaign. We cover topics such as campaign plan and building a base beyond labor, campaign budget, earned and paid media, endorsement strategies, incumbent relations and more. We also work together to provide support to our members throughout their race.



Progressive Majority's mission is to elect progressive champions. They accomplish this by identifying and recruiting the best progressive leaders to run for office; coaching and supporting their candidacies by providing strategic message, campaign, and technical support; prioritizing the recruitment and election of women and candidates of color; and bringing new people into the political process at all levels.



Emerge America inspires women to run and hones their skills to win. They provide training to women to prepare them to run for office. They have affiliates in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Massachusetts, Maine, Nevada, Oregon, Wisconsin and Kentucky.



Women’s Campaign Forum (WCF) is the only non-partisan political venture capitalist organization supporting women leaders at all levels of office, during the earliest stages of their public life.
