Dear Friend of PPSSF,
Public schools are an essential component of the foundation of a healthy San Francisco, a vital democracy, and a strong economy. For over 13 years, Parents for Public Schools – San Francisco has worked to educate and empower parents across our city with the information, tools, and resources to build and ensure quality public education for all children in San Francisco.
As the year draws to a close, please consider investing in the work of PPS-SF and ensure parents are equipped to advocate for our city’s most precious resource – our children – through Parents for Public Schools – San Francisco.
“We were totally lost about the facts and sources for real info. Not anymore. I'm sure everyone else in that room felt the same way.”
- Daniel P., Enrollment Workshop Participant
-
This time last year, Rose and her partner were exploring their options for kindergarten for their son. They were overwhelmed by information and misinformation about the public school process, and were left with more questions than answers.
-
David has been a public school parent for 4 years, yet he’s never known how he could use his talents to support his daughter’s school.
-
Carter believes more can be done to support San Francisco’s public schools, and wants to invest his time, resources, and expertise in public education at the system-wide level.
Although Rose, David, and Carter were accessing public education from different vantage points, they each turned to Parents for Public Schools – San Francisco for support.
Last year alone, Parents for Public Schools – San Francisco:
-
Served more than 9,000 parents like Rose, in person, by dispelling myths about public education and providing timely and accurate information to those exploring their enrollment options; many of whom successfully navigated the process and now have children in San Francisco’s public schools.
-
Trained nearly 600 parents like David through the PPS-SF School Governance for Parents Program who went on to lead and participate in their respective public schools’ School Site Councils and English Learner Advisory Committees.
-
Hosted several community-wide forums on various public education-related topics which connected an upwards of 700 parents like Carter; increasing dialogue and action on the most pressing issues facing San Francisco’s public schools today.
Your support is integral to ensuring Parents for Public Schools – San Francisco can continue to serve as a diverse network of parents working together to contribute to the ongoing improvement of our city’s public school system.
