Habitat Design was selected to do the plant design, as well as the indoor & outdoor decor for the 2012 Sunset Idea House, located in Healdsburg, CA. This year’s Idea House is a beautiful eco-friendly, pre-fab home by BluHomes.
Along that same theme, Habitat Design has designed a plant scheme that utilizes drought-resistant plants including many natives. And our decor style emphasizes eco-friendly, locally made and reclaimed accents for both the indoors and outdoors.

About the Plant Design

Our contemporary planting design reflects the modern architecture of the Sunset Idea House Breezehouse. It uses clean lines that are highlighted by contrasting color combinations, and structural plantings.
The color palette is based on warm oranges, blues, browns and greys — and is enhanced by the colors of the surrounding oaks and ground. We’ve used mass groupings of drought tolerant plants (many of which are native!), to create a naturalistic, yet contemporary look.
