Terms of Service Welcome to Unfiction forums. We hope you enjoy your time here and ask that you respect this space by being aware of the following terms (revised April 11, 2006): General Rules and Guidelines These forums are a community; users should respect the other participants in this community. In general, users should conduct themselves in respectful, appropriate ways that encourage inclusion and cooperation. Our users express a diverse range of opinion and knowledge, and disagreements can (and should) be handled in civilized ways. More specifically, members and guests alike agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, sexually-orientated or any other material that may violate any applicable laws, including copyright laws. As well, posts that are created for the explicit purpose of criticizing in an unconstructive or insulting manner (commonly known as "flame" posts) will come under the scrutiny of the administrators and moderators. A post which is determined to be inappropriate (in any or all of the aforementioned ways) may be removed or split from the originating topic at the discretion of the administrators, and the author may be notified about the post in question. The administrators and moderators of this forum will attempt to remove or edit any generally objectionable material as quickly as possible. However, it is impossible to review every message. Therefore, you acknowledge that all posts made to these forums express the views and opinions of the author and not the administrators, moderators, or webmaster (except for posts by these people) and hence they will not be held liable. The content of all posts remain the property of their respective authors, and can not be republished elsewhere in any form without the knowledge and consent of the author. Users of the Unfiction forums, whether registered or guest, are not to post under more than one identity. If you already have a registered account, do not register another (forgotten forum nicknames can be found - please contact a forum administrator for assistance). Guest posts are allowed in current Unfiction forums, as long as they comply with these Terms. * For more specific information regarding the use of these forums by people directly involved in the creation or maintenance of any Alternate Reality Game discussed here, please review our "Rules and Guidelines for Puppetmasters" section at the end of this Terms of Service agreement. In the event of inappropriate activity on these forums, violators may be subject to disciplinary action by the administration, including but not limited to: a warning from an administrator or moderator, a one-week ban from the forums, or a permanent ban if necessary. Furthermore, the webmaster, administrators, and moderators of this forum have the right to remove, edit, move, or close any topic at any time should they see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While your private information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, the webmaster, administrator, and moderators cannot be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised. Your email address is generally used only to confirm your registration details and password and to send new passwords should you forget your current one. Occasionally, the administrators may be required to contact you via your email address. Therefore, a valid email address is required. This forum system uses cookies to store information on your local computer. These cookies do not contain any of the information you have entered above, they serve only to improve your viewing pleasure. These terms may be updated at any time without notice. For more information on player guidelines, please see this post. Rules and Guidelines for Puppetmasters Users who are directly involved in the creation or maintenance of any Alternate Reality Game (whether in the role of Puppetmaster or in a Behind-The-Scenes position) are welcome to post as themselves in appropriate context, but not within a forum thread or section in which their game is being discussed. The only exception to this rule is when the game has reached a finite conclusion or ending, where people involved directly with the game are then welcome to discuss their game openly. If you are uncertain as to the appropriateness of a post in a thread or section devoted to your game, please contact a forum administrator or moderator. We will be happy to discuss the matter with you. Users are explicitly forbidden to post as characters, whether in the capacity of a registered member or a forum guest, to post in a fashion designed to covertly influence or otherwise finesse players, or in an attempt to move a game forward. In this sense, the Unfiction forums are "out of game" and are not to become part of the "in game" experience or to be manipulated by Puppetmasters. This also pertains to people attempting to mislead other players ("hijacking" the game). The IP address of each post is recorded in order to aid in the enforcement of this section of the TOS.
