Ocean Dredging Is Killing Miami’s Coral

Feb. 26, 2015 - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is dredging major ports on America's East Coast to help accommodate larger ships that will be passing through the improved Panama Canal. But in Miami, experts say the dredging is piling sediment on top of living coral in the port waters, essentially killing some of Earth's most endangered corals. The corps has relocated many corals in the affected areas, but many conservationists think it's not enough.
