Motion Picture Arts Summer Programs for Grades 6-12

Filmmaking is a highly creative, collaborative process. You will experience all aspects of that process, guided by the expertise of our faculty and visiting artists, while working in the world's finest facility for young filmmakers.

For students currently in grades 9-12:

  • Digital Filmmaking (6 weeks) 
  • Screenwriting (3 weeks) 
  • Animation (3 weeks) 
  • Documentary Filmmaking (3 weeks)

For students currently in grades 6-9:

  • Intermediate Filmmaking (3 weeks) 

About Interlochen

Interlochen is located in beautiful northern Michigan. Each summer, over 2,500 aspiring artists from around the world come to our scenic lakefront campus to study film, creative writing, music, theater, visual arts, and dance. Motion picture arts students work in the state-of-the-art DeRoy Center for Film Studies, which houses four editing suites, a sound stage, and a 178-seat projection space.
